This is certainly one of the first things children learn at school about the human body. And one of those they will probably never forget.
What is it?

The 5 senses: sight, touch, smell, hearing, and taste.
Ask anyone to name them, none will miss the call. So much so that we consider it an absolute truth.

And talking about the sixth, seventh, or eighth sense would only be possible in science fiction movies.
When it comes to the 15th sense… that would be absolutely impossible.
Yet, it is the case.
You, me, I have more than these famous 5 senses.
Which one?
- The sense of balance (the one that hits when reading in the car)
- The sense of proprioception (it’s thanks to this that you can bring your reflex to your eyes and not to your chin)
- Thermoception (bring your hand close to the radiator and you’ll understand that it indeed exists)
You see that stopping at the five common senses is highly reductive. And misleading.
Yet, I would bet my hand to cut (the left one anyway) that this is also what you do with animals.
In other words: you consider that they have no more than our 5 senses (they would just be better, that’s all).
Worse.
Who would have exactly the same meanings as us (Taste, smell, hearing,…)
The truth? Nothing is further from the truth. Animals have very different meanings from ours. This gives them the ability to perceive their world far beyond what we are capable of.
Two examples:
- Sensitivity to infrared in snakes. Very useful for detecting heat sources in the dark (like a little rodent…)
- Or the ability of certain insects to sense vibrations in the ground (that’s why as soon as you approach a cricket, it stops singing)
Why am I telling you all this?
Because not knowing ALL the sensory abilities of the animals you want to photograph is THE main source of failure.
How can you not be seen by a deer if you don’t know it is hypersensitive to movement?
Do you know it? Perfect. Then you can adopt the right behavior and stay still for as long as it takes to remain “invisible” in its eyes.
This is just a small part of all the suggestions from my new range. I must admit that I have had trouble sleeping lately.
Because this training really mattered to me. Until now, I had never created a training fully dedicated to naturalist knowledge.
Now, it is done.
This is called understanding and knowledge of animals
It is now available on this page: www.formation.auxoisnature.com/mind-and-know the
animals And as usual, I have set a special launch rate. But for a limited time.
Take advantage of it if you know how much knowledge about animal behavior and biology can change everything based on your results.
